Artists In Residence
Presbyterian Church of the Mountain has established an Artists in Residence mission to advance the arts in faith, church mission, and the Delaware Water Gap community. Our small but vibrant and creative congregation wants to share their God-given talents. "We are blessed with poets, painters, writers, musicians, composers and songwriters in our congregation who will serve as mentors in the community for anyone of any age who is interested in learning more about these arts,” says Reverend Sherry Blackman.
Lehigh Presbytery awarded a $5,000 grant to advance the Artists in Residence mission, hoping it will become a self-sustaining asset to the church, Delaware Water Gap, and the Poconos. Mentoring workshops are the first Saturday of every month October through May, 9:30 AM-1:30 PM, at the church. The program is free. Participants have the opportunity to showcase their work at the COTA Jazz Festival each September.
To learn more, contact Rev. Blackman at 862-268-1120, Kelly Lewis at 570-510-7745, or the church office at 570-476-0345.
Meets on the first Saturday of every month at the Fellowship House.

Kylee Jensen; Painter in Residence
Kylee Jensen was raised in the Poconos but now resides in Manhattan. She always had a thirst for traveling; as a young child, she had no fear of boarding a plane solo to distant lands to visit family. These adventures led Kylee to a rich education from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Attaining a BFA in Fine Arts/Painting in 2007 with a minor in Art History proved to be the right fit. She was a John Loy Honors Scholarship recipient and a Merit Scholar for four years, along with earning a place on the Dean’s List. She pursued her interest in Art Restoration at the famed Lorenzo de Medici, The Italian International Institute, in Florence, Italy. Here Kylee studied under Lorenzo Casamenti learning old techniques of the masters both in drawing and painting, so essential for restoration. It is evident that Kylee paints from the heart. Kylee’s paintings are available by commission which include portraits, murals and landscapes.

Angela Schwartz; Poet in Residence
I’m Angela Schwartz (aka Angela Theresa), a writer, poet, and mother. I’ve written for literary magazines, newspapers, and online publications. Most recently, I published my first collection of poems called We Are The Mothers. I’ve taught English and writing to students from kindergarten all the way through college. I love helping writers find and hone their voices, which is what my workshops will be focused on. My workshop for interested poets (at any stage of writing) is to find their voice in their work, how to write the most interesting and effective poetry, and to share their work with others.
